Ten months is a long time – why spend it living in the U.S. among people most of the world considers rich if you could be out
changing the world now? In the following section, we’ve pre-answered a few of the questions you may be asking. If you have
more questions, we haven’t addressed, go here or send them to info@toag.net

When does TOAG happen?
The internship typically spans 10 months (sometimes 11), and most internships begin in
August, September or October, though some interns are able to enter late and wrap around
to complete the internship a year later. Interns participate in two weekend retreats, a 4 day
consultation and a 2-week overseas practicum (interns are expected to raise support to
cover the cost of this practicum). During this final practicum, interns learn to push through
their fears and start living the Ways and sharing the Words of their Treasure Jesus.
For many, this is the highlight of the year when all that’s learned is put into practice and
interns discover they love both the nations and to share their treasure boldly, passionately
and often.
How much does it cost?
To cover the cost of books/resources, retreats, meals, and recruitment, the base tuition is
$650/person. However, on a case-by-case basis, up to 50% scholarships will be considered
on behalf of interns who cannot meet this cost. Interns also have the option to make
monthly payments. The leaders of TOAG do not want a fund-shortage to keep anyone
from going through TOAG.
Who launched TOAG?
One could argue the internship is Nathaniel’s brain-child; Nathaniel argues the real brains
were added when Neil joined the team. Having grown up in Africa in a cross-cultural ministry
family, Nathaniel is the definition of a third-culture individual (just ask his wife). After high
school he returned to the nation of his birth where he earned a bachelor’s in philosophy,
decisively over-qualifying him to flip hamburgers…so he entered grad school, earned his
M-Div from TEDS, and headed south to the small fellowship in Arizona, which would become
home to this day. Nathaniel and his wife “Lynn,” have shared the journey together for
34 years, adding six passengers along the way...a son and five daughters. They have
served the same EFCA fellowship since 1978. In 1999, Nathaniel stepped out of the lead role
to follow his passion – preparing ‘beautiful feet’ to serve their King some place "where Jesus
Communities are not...yet."
Nathaniel is the primary coach for one internship in the Phoenix metro area, and oversees
the training of other TOAG leaders emerging throughout North America.
